A very special visit, June 21

This was a very special visit as Sr. Vincent Allwan and Sr. Katharina came with Fr. Jean and me. We had a full day planned for them and Sabah kept us on schedule for everything. We began by visits to two poor families living in tents in the north. Two handicapped children were among them. Sr. Vincent was especially touched by the poor living conditions.
Still in the north we saw the open pools of human waste which had poisoned the ground water in the north. These pools have existed for years. The Beit Hanoun School we visited also in this area where the war more intense. Most of the windows had just been blown out by plans which had assaulted the area saying there were tunnels near the northern boarder. To our surprise Sabah had organized for all the people who we work with closely to be there to meet the sisters.

They shared about how each was involved with us in our three projects. None of them who have pre-schools were able to have summer camps sponsored by us as usual, due to being short of funding. Only big summer camps were offered by Hamas and UINERWA this summer.
Following we went to Gaza City to visit a poor family in a refugee camp. Again one teen was mentally challenged in this family and both parents had disabilities.
We finished the day by a visit to the Missionaries of Charity and to the parish priest. We saw the priests' boys with special needs and the sister's children with special needs, plus their elderly ladies who need total care. It ended up being a full day despite the great heat. Having our Sisters with us made this trip historic.
