Summer 2013

We went to Gaza for several days in June and several days in July. In August we went down just for a day. Many of our team was away for part of the summer yet our three projects continued. Sabah had hoped to travel, yet with the unstable political situation it was impossible. June and August were spent in visiting homes where we were able to replace faulty corrugated tin roofs.

For some families we were also able to install bathrooms and a kitchen. It was a great joy to see the makeover of these homes. Yesterday we visited a family where the father said, “I never dreamed that I could one day have a safe place for my family. When the shelling began we all have to move to a neighbor’s house to stay”. In two families who we visited yesterday the homes were very clean. Each family had 11 to 12 members. Now the girls have a room and the boys have a separate room. The rooms are unfurnished except for mats on the floor, yet clean and safe.

Br. Andres, one of our team, lead a group of us in July in painting icons. It was part of the summer program for the parish. It was something totally new for the parish for teens and adults. Andres can add some photos of the results of our work.

Last year we were able to help 124 persons needing medical treatment. We fed 600 children in four pre-schools five days a week. and we were able to replace leaky roofs for 10 families. This was all due to the great generosity of our many benefactors. I especially want to thank: El Omri of Germany, ADAN of Switzerland, Br. Lorenzo and Br. Andres’s parishes in Italy, Ugo Pero of Italy, the rural Parish of Cour Tomer of France, Roland Lombard of Switzerland, Fr. Roalba of the The Centro Missionario Parrocchia of Italy and Nicole BOUSQUET of France. With your generosity you’ve shared in our ministry to the hunger, sick and poorly housed. May the Lord bless all of you in abundance!
