January 2012 visit and meeting in Gaza

January 5th. 2012 - Joe, Thomas and I went down together and had no hitches entering until we found that Joe wasn’t on the Palestinian list in collaboration with the Latin Patriarchate, which states that we are allowed us to enter. Still he was allowed to enter that day much to our relief.


Sabah met us as usual and we began in the north at the El Araba School to see the new roof being put over the children’s play yard. I will add so pictures of it.

We went to be at the meeting that day with all the directors of the five schools.

It was a great sharing of information and an update on events in the Strip. Seeing everyone again was a real plus. Enam had baked a cake for the occasion. We decided that a study of each school was needed before proceeding too far with the  renovations. Joe and Sabah are preparing School profile. After we had our own meeting with Sabah’s input which was great. Due to limited funds this month we weren’t able to help but about 7 individuals with medical needs. We expect to be able to help more next month.
