Visit in Gaza, March 20th, 2013

Lorenzo and I took a new route down which we can use when other roads are blocked. Obama was visiting and some main highways were closed on March 20th.

The Italians had sponsored the renewal of roofs in November and December and I wanted Lorenzo to see one of these homes. After, we visited a Nursery School in Gaza City, which had just had their big party given them by Tuesday’s Child the day before. Sabah was present for it and all was well organized. I was encouraged to see how far the children had progressed with their numbers and letters. Real education is going on here.

We met with our new contractor who gave us a full 5 or 6 pages written report on the three homes (shacks) which will get new roofs and other repairs which he had studied. We hope that still this month the renovations will be begun due donations given from the members of El Omri of Germany who also sponsor our schools.

What impressed me most about this visit was the great collaboration among all our friends in Gaza to help each other to assist their poor. The Missionaries of Charity who we bring used clothing to each visit had in turn offered to our schools boxes of school supplies. I could go on and on with examples of people who are helping others in their free time.
