Hard realities to witness first hand - November 26, 2013

This month we had a great visit to two of our pre-schools and all was well. The end of the day we visited two very impoverished families. This is what I want to share with you.

These two shacks were in the same area. Here is a picture of Br. Joe, one of our team, beside one home. Each home was a shop attached to the main building and created into a make shift home.

Each family has about five children. Two children of one family are disabled.

One little boy has cancer of the eye and needs it replaced by an artificial eye. His brother has more disabilities He is here below with a beautiful smile that I was able to coax from him. The mother was preparing the meal on the floor beside him in these pictures.

The father was injured in an auto accident two years ago and is blind in one eye and just had surgery for his leg which is 12 cm. shorter than the other leg. This last surgery was not successful. The children were shy, serious and were covered with sticky dirt and the parents looked very stressed. They probably have only a limited quantity of clean water. Their food appeared to be rice and cabbage. Here is a picture of the father.
