Lorenzo’s visit September 5, 2014

I found smiling soldiers at the frontier and a whole new procedure of entering. Thanks to Sabah the time to enter was reduced. We met the exceptional “Clown Pimpa” one of whom shares projects and whom organized many spectacles for the children.

We advanced right away to the refugee camp of the Nuseirat area where our new school is located and where the roof has been replaced by a new one. Due to the generosity of benefactors the interior was also painted. This area was saved from the shelling and as a result the children have a whole new environment to enjoy.

Following we went to the Musadder School where the distribution of parcels was in action thanks to an Irish NGO. People were also waiting for our parcels. This area having been shelled hard the people were living among the debris of their fallen homes. We could see a blue strip of the Mediterranean not far away.

In certain sections we entered no man’s land and were not far from the boarder and possible shelling so we retreated. The needs of this area are remarkable each time we visit there and we return to Jerusalem feeling that something needs to be done urgently. Like usual, daily I pray for our benefactors who have shared their extra with the homeless of Gaza.
