Early January Visit 2017

I went down a sunny Monday morning and as usual Sabah and Wasel met me at the border. We visited Fawyseh's School first and were impressed by the serious studies going on and the music being taught by one teacher in preparations for Mother's Day in February. Nice red apples were the treat for the day. We visited the little kitchen which needs to be enlarged and saw how it must be separated from the bathrooms. That's the next project for this school.
After we visited the Zahar School as it had just received rugs for each class and a play room. Round tables were added also to the rooms and were nice bright colors. Again the children were busy learning their letters. Bergal was the hot meal served them that day.

We visited several families after. One building in the cemetery housed nine brothers, their wives and each had 3 or 4 children. The building is in a very bad condition. The authorities told them to leave, but the family had nowhere to go have lost their home in the 2014 war. On the upper floor they opened part of the roof to dry the inside as it had rained the night before and all was soaked. The following day we traveled south to near Khan Yunis where a woman and six children lived and have little to nothing. We brought them four blankets and mattresses. They also needed money for food. All these families have come to our attention these last few months and their needs are many.
