April 2012 visit in Gaza

April was a month when the gasoline and cooking fuel was very short and got even worse in the months ahead. Here are pictures of some of the lines of cars which were miles long taking people 4 to 6 hours to get gasoline for their cars. Many people had given up the use of their cars due to the price of the gasoline. More and more people used motorcycles. We took many street scenes.

We made two visits this month and went to the homes of several of the sick whom we had helped. Fr. Roberto a new member of our team was with us. The pictures are of a woman who had severe headaches. Doctors said that only surgery would relieve her of a tumor which was the cause of her pain. We were able to help her to have this surgery and to get relief. One picture shows where the surgery was done. Another picture shows her with her children. They are very poor, without furniture like most of the people whom we visit. Yet she tries to keep her home clean. Here is also a view of her kitchen. Again many of the families have kitchens which are very similar.
